I am so looking forward to being at the first Stafford Pride festival on Saturday 10th August 2024
Pride is such an important event for so many and the movement and festival is very close to my heart, particularly in my home town.
For some it’s a great party atmosphere full of colour fun and joy. For others, what is important is the significance of an event created to celebrate uniqueness and diversity.
Pride originated after the Stonewall riots in resistance to discrimination and violence. And although things have improved in many ways over the decades, the battle for true equality and acceptance is still yet to be won.
Wherever you identify in the LGBTQI family or even if you don’t, Pride is a celebration of tolerance, acceptance, joy and love.
I’m having a stand at this year’s Stafford Pride to help celebrate love in all its forms. Whether that love is romantic love, family love, the love and bond between friends, couples, throuples, small groups of family or friends – come and celebrate your relationship and your love.
I’m offering mini commitment ceremonies using the ancient practise of hand tying or handfasting.
A handfasting ceremony is an ancient Celtic tradition and symbolises the binding of two or more lives, often as a commitment to another.
This symbolism is portrayed by the hands being bound together by a cord or ribbon.
Once the hands are tied, words, vows or promises are spoken, before the hands are released.
You will keep your Pride inspired coloured ribbons that we use to bind your hands and also a certificate of the ceremony.
You will have a choice of ceremony words. You can speak your words from your heart, or I can say them for you if you prefer.
If you pre book a ceremony I can offer you a bit more choice and diversity (pretty much as wonderfully diverse as you want!).
Anybody who books and pays for a ceremony at Stafford Pride, and goes on to book a full wedding, vow renewal, naming or new start ceremony with me, before the end of October 2024 will have the cost of the Pride ceremony (£24) deducted from the new ceremony costs.
